!!!!!!!!!! Before you e-mail me please read the information below as it may save you some time. l will not take the time to reply to a question if you do not take the time to read the answer already provided!
Otherwise l will try to help when l can time permitting.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have some more questions / answers that you think should be here then please let me know.

Thinking of a career in the Fire Brigade?
There is a currently a lot of information both on the employment pages and the forum which you should check out before contacting me as it may answer your question faster.

Looking for reports / documents?
Depending on what you are looking for you can visit the following sections. For fire safety documentsand statistics visit the download pages, publications pages or the Department of Environments publications page for the latest documents.

Some reports such as the
Stardust Report can be found in your main library in the county and you can check it's availability by searching the relevant library database e.g. Dublin City Libraries . l do not have this as it's the size of a large phone book!
If you are interested only in the ambulance EMS side of things then you should contact the Health Board in the area you are interested in working in. See www.irishambulance.net for more details.

Visiting a Fire Station
Visitng firefighters
Like most brigades we are more than happy to talk to and show our visiting colleagues around. As most stations are unmanned around the smaller towns you would need to contact the local authority to get someone to meet you in one of these stations. For places like Dublin all fulltime stations are manned so you can either ring ahead or drop in to the HQ (in Dublin its on Townsend Street in the city centre) as they have the most equipment and a better chance of catching someone in.You can also ask on the forum and make a contact who may organsie a visit with you at a particular time and station.
You would ring the HQ of the brigade in question as many stations would not have their number listed due to people ringing them in emergencies instead of 999 or 112.

Official groups/ School visits etc.

These need to be arranged through the Officer in Charge of the station as time needs to be set aside so the fire appliance and crew are not out doing inspections drills etc. (obviously they still may be turned out to an emergency) Usually you would contact the HQ of the brigade in questions who would pass you through or organsie the visit or a call back to you depending on wheter the station is full time the crew is in or not etc.

You can also e-mail the brigade for Dublin its fire @ dublincity.ie

Are you a qualified firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician B, A or P and looking to move / transfer to Ireland?
Check out the employment pages and the links to government departments regarding visas etc. In general you should contact the authority of the brigade (see authority addresses) you are interested in as requirements differ, but usually you need to go through the whole process of applying for a job again when it is advertised.
For information on equivalence of medical qualifications then visit www.phecc.ie (Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council) who have a lot of documentation online and are the statutory body for the ambulance service in the Republic of Ireland.

Fire Prevention / Safety Information.
If you are seeking help or information on the above for your premises then the following may be of help to you. First the Department of the Environment publishes Fire Safety Guideline documents for different types of buildings from Nursing homes to preschools which are available to buy or are downloadable free.(Visit my download page or publications page)
Since each building is different it is advisable to contact your local fire prevention officer through your Local Authority for exact information relating to your premises.

Ride Alongs
You need to contact the brigade personally by letter to ask about this. Most brigades will not be able to facilitate ride alongs due to insurance constraints but you should check with them first.

Trades / Patches / T-Shirts swaps etc.
Unfortunately my brigade does not sell patches (just yet) etc. Any patches l have are part of my uniform and l cannot give them away! There is someone selling Dublin Fire brigade gear on Ebay but this is not official clothing and is done without official sanction.
l physically do not have anything to swap or to send to people. The odd time l do have anything to trade l will swap it with any visitors who drop in to my station.
Please do not e-mail me looking for items as l do not have them and l  could not afford to send them to all the people that request them if l had.
I have stopped responding to such requests due to time constraints.
There is a collectors bulletin board where you can leave details if you would like to swap items.

If your question has not been answered then please e-mail me at
but be aware that depending on work and time contraints it may take a few days to answer.

Thanks for visting the site Alan / admin.
