Tunnel Response Vehicle

Dublin Fire Brigades Tunnel Response Vehicle which is currently undergoing trials at the moment is the only one of it's kind in the country and specially designed for it's role in responding to incidents in the 4.5km long Dublin Port Tunnel.

l will add more information on it's design shortly.
Just to note that the final position for gear in the lockers has not been decided yet nor the total content so the pictures will change. These photos were taken at the Dublin Fire Brigade training centre just after the pump had been tested.

Equipment and general information on the TRV

The TRV in addition to being able to supply water is primarily concerned with supplying compressed air foam as it will be dealing with vehicle fires. The tunnel response vehicle is fitted with a CAFS 200 foam system and carries 2 types of foam for class A and B Fires.

A CAFS 90 system is being put in place in North Strands station on the appliances as a backup to the TRV.

As can be seen from the above photos different 3 colour hoses are carried so that during operations there is no confusion as to which crew are using which hose.

12 Draeger twin cylinder PSS 100 extended duration breathing apparatus sets are carried with additional cylinders.A wireless (Bodyguard) communication system between the set and the breathing apparatus control board ensures extra safety for crews. This is a non voice system which measures ambient temperature, distress signal unit and has an option for upgrade to monitor core body temperature.

Draeger pp10 rescue sets are carried.
